Artisk is an AI-powered design platform that simplifies branding, making professional-quality design accessible to everyone. During our beta testing, we observed a high user drop-off rate, but the underlying reasons remain unclear, making it difficult to improve engagement and retention. This project uncovers the core obstacles behind user drop-off and explores solutions to create a more seamless and engaging branding experience.

Where do people struggle in the current experience? To answer this question, I initiated research to explore how users interact with the product.

While Sarah’s case highlights common struggles, I needed to understand how our target users were experiencing these challenges within our product.To uncover deeper insights, I conducted in-depth interviews with 10 target users

"I feel like I’m talking to a machine, not a designer."
This was one of the frequent feedback we heard from users interacting with our initial chatbot.
Where We Saw the Gaps: While functional, it lacked warmth, guidance, and relatability—key elements for a creative assistant. The interaction felt transactional rather than collaborative, missing the opportunity to inspire creativity.
To address this, we designed the chatbot a new persona:

This iteration focuses on redesigning the prompting process to o better meet business goals and user needs.
Great design starts with the right words—so we wrote them for users. we introduced pre-defined text descriptions for users to select.
First Iteration




First Try :User only need to provide the company name and the industry
However, the experiment results didn’t meet our expectations….
What we found out:
While the pre-defined text options reduced ambiguity, they introduced a new challenge: users needed visual inspiration to make confident decisions. During quick testing, we observed moments of hesitation and heard feedback like:
We transformed the experience by showing, not just telling
The chatbot now presents four logo options, each with a brief description for Inspiraton.
By offering visual logo options, users no longer felt stuck at the start. Instead of struggling to describe their vision, they could instantly react to designs, making the selection process faster and more intuitive.
Quick testing showed a sharp decline in ‘Regenerate’ clicks too.

Final Design: Transforming AI Branding
Users found the AI interaction rigid, the interface complex, and the branding process difficult, leading to high drop-offs. I redesigned Artisk’s workflow to simplify decision-making, provide clearer guidance, and give users more control over their branding process.
Four Logo Options at a Glance
Users no longer struggle to describe a logo from scratch. Instead, they choose from four AI-generated options with clear descriptions, making decisions faster and more confident.
Conversational tone for natural and engaging interactions
Refined AI language and persona make interactions feel more natural and engaging, eliminating the robotic tone.
Structured tools with inline tips for seamless customization
The new layout organizes tools more intuitively, while added inline explanations and tooltips guide users through font, color, and element adjustments.
Flexible entry points & real-time previews for seamless design
These two features improve the overall experience by allowing users to start with an existing logo or a new design while providing real-time previews for precise customization.

1️⃣ User Feedback is a Compass, Not a Checklist
Engaging with users revealed deeper pain points beyond surface-level frustrations, guiding design decisions that truly addressed their needs rather than just fixing isolated issues.
2️⃣ Iteration is More Than Just Refinement—It’s Strategy
Through rapid prototyping, testing, and iteration, I saw firsthand how small copy and interaction tweaks significantly improved engagement and efficiency, validating the power of continuous design evolution.
3️⃣Collaboration Strengthens Design
Partnering with colleague helped bridge gaps between design vision and technical feasibility. Effective communication and shared problem-solving ensured that every iteration was both user-centered and practical to implement.
